Release 3.4.1 AnnouncementInspect-CPU systems, Inc. is proud to announce ICPU release 3.4.1. This new release is another step in our ongoing commitment to customer success and our continuing efforts to provide a better solution to application performance problems.

The highlight of this new release is ICPU's unique capability to track and record programs that cause spikes in CPU usage resulting in erratic response times. This problem happens when a transaction with a normally acceptable CPU usage and response time, changes its behavior occasionally, monopolizing the CPU, slowing down the whole system. With this new unique feature, ICPU automatically identifies the program and the executed codesequence that is causing the bottleneck. The application can then be modified to ensure a smooth running of the production systems and save valuable CPU cycles.

ICPU introduces new CPU saving opportunities that are not available otherwise. ICPU's low overhead facilitates unlimited sampling time, which provides invaluable insight into the CPU usage of application programs. The results of long term sampling can be used to identify bottlenecks in application programs. These bottlenecks can be eliminated by modifying the source code, thus improving the performance of the CICS application systems.

ICPU can be used freely throughout the application life cycle by all the CICS personnel. This ensures that only efficient, highly supervised programs are moved into production.

Early discovery of performance problems saves money. A system with tuned applications is more stable, causes fewer problems and prolongs the lifetime of your site's hardware.

In this example, the Exceptions Limit was set to 15 and the 10th exception is displayed. This example shows that during the 60 seconds Check Interval ended at 9.24.47, the program TST00000 was using 65.5% (=24.6+21.3+19.6) of the CPU used by all applications, which exceeds the 60%  Threshold set for this inspection.
